Tony Davies

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Tony Davies, BEM. Tony was passionate about the Risborough Area and was a former recipient of the Town Council's Citizenship Award. As the founder of RARA in 1988, Tony worked closely with the then District and Town Councils to successfully protect Park Mill Farm from unwelcome development and he continued to remain a great friend and supporter of RARA offering great insight into the machinations of local government. He was also a major part of The Askett Society and his passion and drive for the town led him in 2009 to help found the now famous Kop Hill Climb Revival, which has gone from strength to strength each year since, and has put Risborough firmly on the map. Tony was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in June 2016 as part of the Queens Birthday honours for ‘Services to charity through the Kop Hill Climb and to the community in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.’

The success of the Kop Hill Climb Revival and the charitable benefits this has brought is a great legacy for a man whose shoes will not be easily filled.

Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
