May 2021
Dear RARA member,
You may have seen that three of our committee members are standing as candidates in the Local elections next Thursday 6th May, two for the new Buckinghamshire Council and all three for Princes Risborough Town Council. I would like to emphasize that these members are standing as Independent candidates and are not representing RARA at these elections. RARA has a charitable tax status, and cannot involve itself in politics. We need to build and maintain a relationship with all local stakeholders regardless of their background or make up.
As you will be aware, one of the main issues that RARA has been championing is the protection of our unique environment and Chiltern Hill setting. We remain opposed to the unsustainable and disproportionate expansion of the town as set out in the Wycombe District Local Plan and are following its progress closely so as to help overcome the problems we are already seeing arising as it is developing.
RARA would support any candidate that offers genuine community involvement and shares similar values to ourselves, especially with regard to the Risborough Expansion Plan. Please take time to read the election leaflets and the candidates websites to inform yourselves of the position of all candidates. We have listed details on our website of all the candidates standing in both elections with signposts to further information, where available.
Regards
Will Streule
Chairman Risborough Area Residents Association.
